Who we are

ScriptChamp ("ScriptChamp," "we," "us") is a Google Docs™ editor add-on published by Story Management, LLC. This policy explains what information the add-on accesses, how it is used, and the choices you have. It applies to the ScriptChamp add-on and its website at www.script-champ.com.

The short version

  • We do not store your writing. ScriptChamp does not copy, archive or retain your scripts, manuscripts, characters or document content on our servers. Processing happens inside your Google Doc.
  • We do not sell your data. Not your personal information, not your document content, not to anyone, for any purpose.
  • We do not train AI on your work. ScriptChamp uses no AI text generation, and your writing is never used to train a model.
  • We ask for as little as possible. ScriptChamp works only inside the Google Doc you open it in and the files it creates for you. It does not read the rest of your Google Drive.

What the add-on accesses, and why

ScriptChamp requests four Google permissions — each the narrowest that supports the feature it powers — and no restricted permissions at all:

  • The document you're working in (documents.currentonly). The add-on formats scripts, inserts samples and title pages, and scans your script to build reports. This happens on the active document only, in real time. Content is never transmitted to or stored on Story Management servers.
  • Files ScriptChamp creates (drive.file). Reports, treatments, series bibles, transcripts, outlines, translation backups, and the "ScriptChamp — [Title]" project folder are created by the add-on and stored in your own Google Drive. ScriptChamp can see and manage only the files it creates or that you open with it — never the rest of your Drive.
  • Displaying the sidebar (script.container.ui). This is what draws the ScriptChamp panel and dialogs inside Google Docs. The "third-party web content" in the consent wording refers to ScriptChamp's own interface, not web browsing.
  • Connecting to an external service (script.external_request). Two features send text outside your document: the built-in spell/grammar check sends the text you choose to check to LanguageTool to return suggestions, and the Word/PDF export calls Google's own document-export service to produce the downloaded file. Nothing else leaves your document.

ScriptChamp does not request access to Gmail, Calendar, Contacts, or your Drive as a whole.

Information we handle

  • Your document content. Processed in real time to format and analyze your script. Content is not transmitted to or stored on Story Management servers. It leaves your document only when you personally run the spell-check (sent to LanguageTool) or an export (sent to Google's export service).
  • Add-on settings. Preferences the add-on saves to make the tools work — such as your logline, saved character and location names, the project-folder ID, draft-lock status, and revision history — are stored using Google's per-document properties, attached to your document within Google's infrastructure. They are not stored on our servers.
  • Purchase and license information (paid features). When you buy a ScriptChamp plan, we receive the email address you purchased with and a record of which tier you own, so we can unlock what you paid for and answer support requests about it. Payments are processed by Stripe; we do not receive or store your full card details.
  • Support communications. If you email support, we receive whatever you send us.

Third parties we rely on

  • Google — the add-on runs on Google Apps Script inside Google Docs, and document export uses Google's own services. Your use of Google Docs is governed by Google's privacy policy.
  • LanguageTool — receives the text you submit when you use the spell/grammar checker, in order to return corrections.
  • Stripe — processes payments for paid plans and handles your payment information under Stripe's privacy policy.

Licensing. ScriptChamp does not run a separate licensing server today — during the trial period every feature is unlocked for everyone, and no license database exists. When paid plans go live, the only licensing information we hold is the email address you purchased with and the tier you bought. If we store that record with a hosting provider rather than keeping it inside Stripe's payment record, we will name that provider in this policy and update the date at the top of this page before the change takes effect.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your document content to train AI models.

How your information is used

Solely to provide and support the add-on: to format and analyze your scripts, generate the documents you request, remember your settings, unlock the features you've purchased, and respond to support requests. We may also send occasional product updates to the email address you purchased with; every one of those carries an unsubscribe link. We do not use Google account information for marketing.

Google API Services User Data Policy (Limited Use)

ScriptChamp's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs to any other app will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Specifically:

  • ScriptChamp uses Google user data only to provide and improve the add-on's user-facing features for you.
  • ScriptChamp does not transfer Google user data to third parties except as necessary to provide or improve those user-facing features, to comply with applicable law, or as part of a merger or acquisition.
  • ScriptChamp does not use Google user data for advertising of any kind, including retargeting, personalized or interest-based advertising.
  • No human reads your document content except with your explicit authorization for troubleshooting, where required for a security investigation, or where the law requires it.

Data retention

  • Add-on settings persist with your document until you clear them or delete the document.
  • Files the add-on creates live in your Google Drive under your control; delete them anytime.
  • License records (email + tier) are retained while your license is active and for a reasonable period afterward for accounting, tax and support purposes.
  • Support correspondence is retained as long as needed to resolve your inquiry and maintain service quality.

Your choices and rights

  • You can uninstall ScriptChamp at any time from the Google Workspace Marketplace, and revoke its access in your Google Account under "Third-party apps & services."
  • You can delete any document or file ScriptChamp created.
  • Access, correction and deletion. You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the license information we hold about you by emailing support@script-champ.com. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights under laws such as the GDPR, the CCPA or the CPRA; we honor applicable requests.
  • Marketing opt-out. You may stop receiving product-update emails at any time using the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any such email. It has no effect on your license or your access to support.

Children's privacy

ScriptChamp is not directed to anyone under the age of 13, or under the minimum age in your jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If we learn that a child has provided us with personal information, we will delete it.

Security

We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect the limited information we hold. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure, but we work to safeguard your data and limit what we collect in the first place.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy as the add-on evolves. Material changes will be posted at www.script-champ.com with a new "Last updated" date.
